ABOUT

Kate Lundy is a Pittsburgh-based oil painter whose portraits and landscapes explore themes of mental health and the therapeutic effects of nature. Growing up in the Boston area, she won state and national Gold and Silver Keys through the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards for her paintings and metalwork. Kate moved to Pittsburgh to attend the University of Pittsburgh where she majored in Civil Engineering and minored in Studio Arts. She later earned a certificate in Digital Design from CCAC.

Kate has been a member of the Associated Artists of Pittsburgh (AAP) since 2022. She is actively involved in the Pittsburgh art scene from leading sketching sessions hosted by Save Maxo Vanka to sharing her art in local art exhibits and other events, some including the Pittsburgh Left at the SPACE gallery, the 2022 Three Rivers Art Festival Juried Exhibit, Greater Pittsburgh Arts Council’s Art on the Wall program at 11 Stanwix, and AAP hosted exhibits.

In addition to oil painting, she enjoys experimenting with various materials and also crafts her own frames from recycled wood. Her work reflects a deep interest in the intersection of emotion, environment, and craft.
